Most children grow up being terrified of needles and being injected, the lollipops from doctors after braving the pain on your bum were probably the only thing to look forward to. For some, that fear never goes away.
7 de Laan actress, Nobuhle Mahlasela is one such person. She took to her Instagram page to share an experience she went through at the doctor’s office recently. In the video, the actress tells her story in a mini rant while laughing at herself.
“On Sunday I fell ill; I had a scratch on my throat, and I decided to have it checked out because I had just survived a very terrible flu, so I couldn’t have that again,” she started.
“So, I go to the doctor and the diagnosis is tonsils. I’d never suffered from such before, but nonetheless, he wrote a prescription for me: antibiotics, painkillers and the shock of my life…uDoctor athi uzong’jova [the doctor tells me he’s also going to inject me].”

“I was like, wait a minute. You guys don’t understand because [even though] I’ve got tatoos, and a lot of them, being injected is just so awkward for me. So, what’s going to happen? Am I going to have to take my pants down and all that stuff? I was terrified!”
The actress went on to share how scared she was the entire time, especially the anxious anticipation while the doctor put on his gloves, cleaned the area he was going to inject and prepared her. And when he finally poked her, Nobuhle lost it.
“I felt numb, guys. All I remember was my voice. I’m sure the entire building heard that no man, there’s a lady who’s not okay here. I screamed so much, I’m so scared of injections – and the whole experience for me is just awkward too”.
