Gospel singer Dumi Mkokstad has finally addressed rumours that before his recent wedding with Dr Ziphozenkosi Mthembu-Nzimande, he was engaged to another woman.
The artist recently got married to Dr Zipho in a beautiful white wedding.
Speaking to Jeannie D on Afternoon Express, Dumi – who was previously well-known as “Gospel’s most eligible bachelor” – denied even knowing the woman he was accused of being involved with.
“There was a lady who went to a newspaper, whom I apparently promised to marry,” he said.
“I left on Thursday morning saying I’m going to shoot a music video. Apparently, it’s Amanda Bhengu. Firstly, I’m related to the Bhengus,” he shared.
According to Dumi, all this lady told the newspaper was not true and he debunked her claims as lies.
“I don’t know who she is. She says that she sent the media a WhatsApp conversation. I do not have WhatsApp. I’ve not had WhatsApp since 2014 for my privacy reasons,” he explained.
The award-winning musician says he’s tried to get in touch with Amanda through the newspaper but has since had to luck getting hold of her.
“I’ve been asking people to ask her to come out. I had a meeting with the newspaper, and I asked them if they think this thing is actually true, please ask her to meet me at your offices and you can write a story from then. So, they called her and they said she refused to come,” he shared.

Even though this didn’t rock the boat of his current relationship with Zipho, he was quite frank about his feelings.
“Honestly it was hurtful because I wanted her [Zipho] to enjoy every moment of the wedding,” he admitted.
It was not the first time that Dumi’s name was associated with a scandal as jaw dropping as this one. It was previously reported that he had allegedly impregnated a 21-year girl by the name of Nomfundo Ngcobo.
However, that’s all behind him now and he is quite grateful to his fans for taking everything written about him with a pinch of salt.
“We just wanna thank people for supporting us and standing with us in pray. Some people not believing everything that they see in these newspapers. We appreciate the love,” he concluded.
