South African singer Cici, recently sat down for a heart-to-heart interview with Pearl Thusi on BET Africa’s Behind the Story.
In the very emotional episode, Cici shared untold details about the abusive relationship she was in with her ex-boyfriend, kwaito legend, Arthur Mafokate.
Cici also revealed the reason why she dropped all legal action against Arthur was because she felt she had suffered enough. “The relationship was very toxic, both emotionally and physically,” she said in a tear-jerking moment, and added that she did not want to go though that experience again in a legal battle with the Mnike hitmaker.
Cici hit many nerves on social media, as comments from people flooded the timeline. Many women tweeted the Ngidinge singer, sharing their own horrific stories of abuse and how they were inspired by her.
The host, Pearl Thusi, also got props too, for her interviewing skills and ability to make her subjects comfortable enough to open up without fear.
