Actor and TV presenter Fezile Makhanya can hardly contain his excitement about being called to be the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search host.
In its seventh season, the show which has been hosted by broadcaster Andile Ncube and media personality Boity Thulo is once again on a search for top soccer talent.
Fezile is ecstatic that sports and presenting, which are two things he enjoys, are brought together in this show.
The former The Queen actor is not new to presenting. He co-hosted the SABC 1 magazine show Countdown 2010 and e.tv sports game show No Sweat Golden Goal.
“My love of sports meets my passion for presenting once again,” he posted on his Instagram page.
Speaking to Move! he explained how he got the job.
“I’m good at presenting and I love sport. I played a lot of sports growing up,” said the presenter who has been with SuperSport for at least eight years.
“It’s going to be more of a magazine show than a sport show. It’s like Idols of sports,” he explained.
He added that viewers should expect to witness a change for the better for the hopefuls.
“I hope people get to see their lives changes. The players have the chance to play for PSL teams,” he said.
The show is about amateur soccer players under the age of 26 years from around South Africa, who want to make a career out of playing the sport.
There are 48 hopefuls selected and put through tests in order to make it to the final 18-man team that will play with last year’s winners of the Nedbank Cup.
