New Mzansi Wethu show Ubizo will help people connect to their deceased loved ones

For years, the local viewers have been exposed to shows about mediums. However, they are often international shows.

Now, Mzansi Wethu is introducing a show, called Ubizo, of a similar fashion but from an African perspective.

The show will follow medium Lloyd who will be helping individuals and families connect to their ancestors.

Each episode will tackle unique challenges and aims to provide messages of reassurance to individuals and families, irrespective of how bleak the situation seems.

Nomsa Philiso, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, explains that this reality show does not look to shock or shame, but to shine a light on frustrating life issues and establish balance.

She goes on to say that in addition to decoding messages from the unknown, Ubizo’s fascinating core themes include exploring ancestry; resolving maternal and paternal identity issues; marriage and how it affects individuals; miscarriages and abortions; African spirituality vs religion; as well as the passing of souls.

“We are excited to share this new reality show that brings new awareness and demystifies certain stereotypes,” Nomsa says.

Ubizo debuts on Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163) on Saturday 11 April at 7pm.
