His will be an intimate send-off, with only close friends and family members present as per the regulations of the national lockdown in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

When the lockdown is lifted, his family and the Limpopo Artist Movement (LAM) will host a memorial service in his honour. Members of the public are invited to attend.

This will coincide with the unveiling of his tombstone which, according to Sunday World, was donated by LAM chairperson Mphoza Mashabela and Bataung Memorial Tombstones – known for over-the-top tombstones.

Meanwhile, Charles Maja’s fans have had a hard time holding back tears while watching his scenes on Skeem Saam.

Taking to Twitter, many expressed sadness at seeing his scenes, knowing it was for the last time.

As part of the country’s fight against Covid-19, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a national lockdown for five weeks to curb the spread. This means citizens are to stay at home unless they need to get essentials like groceries and medical care.

Despite amendments to the funeral regulations allowing people to move between provinces for burials, the current prohibition of 50 persons attending a funeral is still in effect. Night vigils are currently prohibited.
