The 8th Ebubeleni Main Music Festival, whose positive social impact continues to expand broadly to communities, is set to take place from 27 to 29 December in Port Elizabeth.

The event aims to join strengths between the Eastern Cape Gambling Board and the annual National Cultural Flagship event.

The much-anticipated festival is meant to empower and alert the public about harmful gambling practices.

Speaking to Move!, Ebubeleni’s project manager, Marc Mahambehlala, said the festival will kick things off with hip-hop, gqom and amapiano beats.

Even more blazing are the artists on the line-up, including Casper Nyovest, Kwesta, Sho Madjozi, Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, De Mthuda & Njelic, Dj Sumbody, Moonchild Sanelly, and adding a taste of naughty but nice will be Zodwa Wabantu.

On 28 December, people can forward to comedy at the Boardwalk ICC, then on 29 December captivating, fired-up performances are scheduled at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium main event.

More than eager to serve music patrons on the day are Zonke, Vusi Nova, Ami Faku, Tsepo Tshola, DJ Tira, Simmy, Zer012finest, Anatii and Jaziel Brothers.

“Socialite, radio and television personality Somizi Mhlongo is set to ensure servings are smooth and at the right time as a programme director with Umhlobo Wenene’s Mafa Bavuma,” Marc says.

“The festival prides itself on contributing to efforts meant to boost the local economy through, among others the attraction of tourists, presenting income-generating and employment opportunities in Nelson Mandela Bay.”

The people who will be benefitting the most are young people with qualifications but who don’t have any work experience.

“Included among those employed by the event are graphic designers, administrators and public relations personnel. Among the businesses that benefitted are those in accommodation, tour operations, caterers, technical services, security and vendors,” Marc adds.
