Winnie Mashaba to her late mom: ‘God has been so awesome to us Mama’

The star penned a note of gratitude for the means her mother MaLebo Mashaba made while she raised Winnie and her siblings. Almost 20 years since her passing, Winnie is celebrating her mother.

She has her mother to thank for her musical career which marks 20 years this year. She was discovered at the church her late mother went to.

Her Robala Ka Kgoso Mme song from her latest album The Journey with Winnie Mashaba (Live at the Emperors Palace), was a tribute to her mother.

“Dear Mother, I will never look down on every effort you made for us and those you were mentoring. It marks 18 years this month on the 20th since your departure. I just wanna continue assure you that “ God has been so awesome to us Mama” Keep on communicating with us the way you always do. It keeps us vibrant, energetic and feel that love ?? ?? you have always showered us with,” she shared on her Instagram page.

In an interview with DRUM, the star said the passing of her mother changed her life. She was only 19 years old when she had to take care of her seven siblings. This forced her to grow up quickly.

“I was the only one in the family who had a source of income because I was selling CDs and cassettes. I used the profit to take care of everyone. I never had time to go out with my friends because I had to make sure all my siblings had something to eat and were well supported,” she told DRUM.
