Once thick as thieves, singers Kelly Khumalo and her sister Zandile Khumalo Gumede were inseparable. It looks like now things have gone pear shaped and Zandile is putting her foot down.
Zandile has come gun blazing at her sister, singer Kelly Khumalo, after Kelly insinuated that Zandile’s husband, Mhlo Gumede, allegedly posed as Kelly’s manager for an event the muso had no knowledge of.
Kelly Khumalo Entertainment issued a statement that distanced Kelly from the event which was called Fresh Saturday with Vusi Nova and Kelly Khumalo and any professional association with Mhlo. She matter-of-factly stated that Mhlo is nothing more than a brother-in-law.

This didn’t sit well with Zandile and she shot back at her older sister. The younger sister hit back with her own statement accusing Kelly of being a ‘bitter’ and ‘toxic’ person.
“I want to put it on record that the statement my sister Kelly Khumalo made about me and my husband on social media and to some medial people is rather happazard, premature and unnecessary to say the least. We spoke about that issue and put it to her that the promoter didn’t stick to his word so she had no right to take it to a public platform without getting facts [sic],” Zandile said in the statement.
Zandile says her sister is not angry about the alleged gig but there’s something she’s not telling the public. She alleges that it’s because Zandile and Mhlo refused to take part in Kelly’s upcoming reality show because the parties couldn’t come to a agreement when it came to compensation.
“Me and my husband, who is my manager have worked very hard to remove me from her shadow so we are not prepared to take ten steps backwards and have me be her lackie on a TV show just to please her,” she explains.
Zandile expressed her disappointment at her sister for publicising a family matter.

“This hurts because I have been to hell and back with her,” she said and recalled some of the things she went through with her sister.
“The first and the last time I went to jail was because of her, the first time I was questioned by the police and even put on a lie detector test it was because of her, the first time I saw drugs with my own eyes it was from her, today I’m known as an accessory to murder and it’s because of her,” she accuses her sister.
She says now it’s enough and won’t take any abuse from her older sister. “I am not going to allow her to attack my house or my brand that I have both worked so hard for because of her issues [sic],” she says.
Even though the sisters have their gloves on, blood is surely thicker than water. Zandile says there’s no love lost, at least on her side. “With all that said I have taken a decision that yes I love her dearly but I’m going to love her from a distance for now cos she is toxic as a person…This is not to bash my sister and it is neither malicious like her post but to protect what’s mine,” she wrote.
Zandile says her sister needs help and she hopes she accepts and gets it.
