If you have always wanted to enter the Miss South Africa pageant, now is your chance.

The organisation revealed on Monday that they are officially accepting applications for the 2020 competition. This comes after the announcement that the pageant will go ahead as planned with a "new format".

The revamped Miss SA site is live and includes a section which lists all requirements for prospective contestants.

Here are some of the requirements:

1. Age

You must be at least 20 years old to enter. The site also states that applicants should be under the age of 28 as of 1 August 2020. "This means that an applicant can turn 28 within the year of her reign (starting August 2020)."

2. Marital Status

You cannot be married or have had a marriage annulled. Should you win the title of Miss SA, you are expected to remain unmarried throughout your reign. However, the organisation does make allowance for applicants who are in a relationship or engaged.

"It is accepted that while an applicant may be in a committed relationship or engaged, they must adhere to the rule of not getting married during the Miss South Africa pre-competition process or during year of reign," the website states.

3. Gender

The FAQ section on the website states that applications from transgender contestants are welcome. However, applicants must "be in possession of a South African ID document reflecting that their gender amended sex is now female."

4. Parent/legal guardian

You cannot be pregnant, have given birth or "parented a child and not be the legal guardian of any minor."

5. Citizenship

You must be a South African citizen and have a valid ID or passport. Applicants with dual citizenship will be asked to provide full details of both documents.

6. Qualifications

Prospective contestants must have a matric certificate or a qualification equivalent to NQF level 4. Any tertiary qualifications should be disclosed as well.

7. Clean record

Applicants should have no criminal record.

While the Miss SA organisation has not given too much away about the format of the upcoming pageant, they have revealed on the website that it will take place in August and judging for semi-finals will begin in June.
