PICS: SA's Margaret Gardiner is oh so glamorous at the Golden Globes

Cape Town - South Africa's Margaret Gardiner looked regal as she attended the 2020 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

Ahead of the award show, Margaret ran into Charlize Theron, who was nominated for her role in Bombshell, and shared the moment on Instagram, writing: "Thank you Charlize for saying hello to a fellow woman from South Africa."

The 60-year-old now calls Los Angeles her home and works as a TV and print journalist in the City of Angels. She is also a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that votes on and hosts the Golden Globes.

Margaret was the first South African woman to win the Miss Universe title in 1978 when she 18 years old.

The second South African to bring home the title was Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in 2017, who Margaret invited to the prestigious award show the following year.

Margaret once again extended an invitation to reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, from Cape Town to walk to the red carpet - but she had to decline due to a scheduling conflict.

Margaret walked the carpet wearing a gorgeous Oliver Tolentino Gown and shared photos of her celebrity sightings on Instagram, which included Priyanka Chopra and Kit Harington.

Speaking to Channel24, Margaret said that the Golden Globes is the event she enjoys the most, during award season, saying: "It's hard work, but it is the most fun - from participating and viewing the event."
