Johannesburg – Oh, the politics of the music industry! It’s not unusual for musicians to show favour to particular political parties, some, however, are more open about it then others. AKA, for one, has made sure his fans know exactly where he stands when it comes to the politics of South Africa.
The rapper, who’s known to speak his mind on social media, took to his Twitter account on Wednesday to let his followers know that they will not be seeing him at a DA rally any time soon.
“I’ve turned down every request of the DA to perform at their events. I’ve even performed at 2 EFF parties,“ he tweeted in response to a fan who questioned why he had turned down a DA event.
The rapper went on to say that he does not look down on any artist who chooses to take on these events, but he will no longer be doing so. “Never again. I realized I don’t need the money that bad,” he added.
He also made his views on the ANC clear, “The ANC is faaaaar from perfect, but I firmly believe it’s the only political party with the credentials and policies to lead our country.”
Not everybody was happy with AKA’s decision to be so open about his political views... not that it phased him though. “I have no problem with who you vote for… that’s the beauty of our country. We don’t have treat politics like Chiefs vs Pirates bro.”
