Cape Town - Local TV personality Akhumzi Jezile died in a car accident on the N6 near Queenstown early on Saturday.

The tragic accident claimed the lives of 5 people, which included actor Thobani Mseleni, singer Siyasanga Kobese and IT technician Skhumbuzo Mbuthuma.

In an article previously published in DRUM Magazine, Akhumzi was asked to write a letter to his younger self

“Dear younger Akhumzi, I know what you’re thinking . . . How on earth did you allow yourself to get this big? Don’t you dare judge me! I look at you and my heart is filled with laughter and a thousand smiles because of who you’re becoming.

Today you’re 16 and in Grade 11 with a bucket full of dreams, and you have no idea which ones will come to pass and which ones are just baggage. At times you feel like the whole world is against you – your mom forces you to do the dishes, your sisters are your biggest enemies, and the only person that gets you is YOU.

Well, brace yourself because it’s all about to fall into place and make sense. Every activity you do today, every challenge you face and every obstacle you overcome is a rehearsal of what is still to come in the next 10 years, so enjoy every moment of it (even the bad). Thank you very much for listening to your mom and Mam’Msimang from church; believe it or not, they actually know what they’re talking about. In about a year from now, your first breakthrough will come to pass and you’ll live your dream and inspire many. Just remember to never live up to other people’s expectations. Continue being you.

Also, stop stressing about your husky voice; it will come in handy one of these days. Live everyday stress-free, God has your back at all times. And finally, you’ll be living in this body for the rest of your life so best make peace with it and enjoy it while you can!

Best regards, The older you.”
