An emotional Amor Vittone speaks candidly about family life amidst father's health scare

Cape Town - Local singer and actress Amor Vittone opened up to Channel24 about the significant role her father, Dario Vittone, plays in her life - amidst a sudden health setback.

A judge on Dans in Jou Taal, Amor hastily left the taping of the reality dance competition on Friday, after receiving a message that her father had collapsed.

According to Amor, who wants to keep her father's condition private, her mother Delyse, and her son Jordan was with him when he suddenly "collapsed."

About the health status, a teary-eyed Amor says: "He is having tests done. He is doing fine, and he is looking okay."

A true professional and honouring her commitments to fans, Amor hasn't missed a single of her obligations following her father's setback, and rushes between the hospital and appearances.

"I've slept like three hours a night. My mother is an angel, keeping the family together all while looking after my kids," she adds.

Speaking about the role her father plays in her life, she says: "My parents are my foundation and my rock."

She breaks down and adds: "I am worried about him, and he is concerned about his grandkids. Especially about Jordan and Kylie. It's not his time to leave."

"Kylie just got into the world cup, and Jordan is going overseas, and he [Dario] is meant to see that," she explains.

When asked about the support she has received from her thousands of Facebook fans, she says it has been "unbelievable."

"Even though I don't know every person personally, I read each person's message. Their messages are so beautiful, and it brings a smile to face during this difficult time. It's incredible what their support means to me," Amor elaborates.

She goes on to thank her close friends, and direct family, especially her Italian family who are living abroad.

Amor, who has taken on a mountain of legal issues following her husband Joost van der Westhuizen's death, says her father "works too hard and is stressed."

In a previous interview with Channel24, Amor has spoken about the burden her parents have taken on, helping her raise her children.

Speaking through the tears, Amor says: "He is the anchor of the family.  He will never stop fighting, and he will never give up. He is not just my dad; he is a father to my children. They do everything together."

"We are a fighting family with a Godly spirit.  We will accept and overcome every challenge that comes our way,"  she says.
