Johannesburg - On Thursday, the late Robbie Malinga would have turned 50 and to keep his memory alive, his wife Ann Malinga shared a special message to celebrate the day.

Taking to Instagram to pen a heartfelt message, Ann posted a picture of her husband who she refers to as her ‘Guardian Angel’ and wished him a happy heavenly birthday.

“Happy Heavenly Birthday to my Guardian Angel in Heaven, my Husband. My heart will always grieve but my tears are more for me less for you. I know Your pain is gone your soul flies free and a big part of you will forever be with us,” she began the message before revealing how the day makes her feel.

“Today is filled with memories of happiness and tears of sadness but, the little things that seemed so small are now gold in a memory vault. #RestWell #Foreverlockedinmyheart “

Earlier this year, Ann opened up to DRUM about living without her husband and raising their children.

“I’m a single mom now. I don’t do much socialising, I’m always at home or with the kids. All I can do right now is make sure I manage the household and try to take things one day at a time,” she said.

“I’ve also put all my trust in God to see me through.”

On their son, Robbie Malinga Jnr making headlines after taking over the late musician’s Instagram account , Ann defended the 17-year-old by saying he had been running the account even when the musician was still alive.

“I didn’t allow him to take over anything – he’s the one that opened the Instagram account for his dad and he’s been running that account for as long as I can remember.”

Robbie Malinga died on Christmas day last year, surrounded by his family after suffering from an illness.
