Cape Town - Ashwin Willemse has graduated from Wits with a master’s degree.
Posting on their Twitter page, the university announced that the former Springbok achieved his degree with a distinction on Wednesday.
“Congrats to @Ashwinwillemse – graduating today with a Masters of Management in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation, with Distinction!“ the university tweeted.
They also added that his wife, Michelle, had graduated with a philosophy degree on Tuesday.
Speaking about his degree, the 36-year-old emphasised the importance of education in making an individual’s dreams come true.
“Education is the path to wherever your heart desires, to wherever your courage will take you," Ashwin said. "It is the path to the true liberation. Our human dignity is embedded in education."
The graduation for Ashwin will provide a welcome distraction as he is currently embroiled in an alleged racism scandal with broadcaster SuperSport.
Lawyers acting on his behalf, confirmed to Sport24 that they will be heading to the Equality Court, after an investigation found no racism was directed at the rugby analyst during his infamous studio walk-out in May.
Ashwin walked off the set after accusing co-presenters, Nick Mallett and Naas Botha, of undermining him.
