Black Motion go platinum

Johannesburg – Black Motion have gone platinum! The local duo’s latest album Ya Badimo as well as their single Imali have both been certified platinum.

Speaking about the achievement in a press statement, they said: “This album represents us giving thanks to the Ancestors – we are forever grateful for the way in which the music keeps growing and grounding us to keep creating music for our fans. Thank you to our label, our extended Spirit Motion family – Stay Ture – Be yourself and do good by you!”

Ya Badimo, which is Black Motion’s fourth studio album, continues the musical and spiritual story-telling journey that group members Thabo “Smol” Mabogwane and Bongani “Murdah” Mohosana have been on since the release of  their first hit in 2010.

“Our music consists of drums and our spiritual beliefs and so, we liken our journey in this music industry to that of a traditional healer undergoing training,” Smol explains.
