Reality show star, Blue Mbombo is all about style, beauty and expensive taste. But who can blame her?
Last year she was crowned the SowetanLIVE Mzansi's Sexiest female. We meet her in our offices in Auckland Park looking sizzling in high waist jeans, crop top and floral bomber jacket. Just one glance, she looks no different from those Hollywood celebrities in big sunglasses, and a personalised brown Louis Vuitton bag in tow. However, Blue has a confession to make. “When I am depressed I go shopping and that makes me happy and I just forget everything else that’s bothering me,” she tells us.
Blue, originally from Kutlwanong in Free State reveals that she would buy clothes and hide them from her ex-boyfriend, K2 real name Katlego Mabusela. “We would fight with K2 about it because my spending was excessive,” says Blue.
Blue and rapper K2’s love story started on screen when they were contestants on Big Brother Mzansi. However, the couple shocked everyone when they announced their split late last year. And so we ask Blue if her shopping addiction was the reason for her break up.
“No, it was not. We realised there were few things we didn’t agree on and the solution was to part ways. I am old and I don’t have time to be playing games. I thought if there was no future between us, why waste each other’s time then.”
Blue also reveals that her addiction is not something new. But K2 was not the only boyfriend who complained about her love of shopping but ex-fiancé Nigerian-born player, Onyekachi Okonkwo. “All my ex-partners have complained about my shopping. I can’t do anything about it though; it’s not a bad addiction. People think it is sickness but I have it under control now, I know my limits,” she says adamantly. She is currently building another closet in her apartment for her expensive shoes and clothes.
“I really don’t know how many shoes I have but they are a lot. I have a closet for just shoes and they are actually making another one because my shoes don’t fit anymore. I think I need a bigger house,” she says jokingly.
The ex-Diski Diva star who is also a Clere Radiance ambassador and social media influencer, says she makes over a million from her ambassadorship deals. Blue has started her own clothing line. She signed a management deal with talent Management and entertainment marketing agency, Vth Season which manages the likes of Tresor, Berita and Big Star, to name a few. “I am focusing on acting, but no more reality shows for me. I think I’ve done enough already.” It seems there is a lot going for the Duchess. She has found new love and has a new career venture in acting.
