Johannesburg - South African TV viewers who love their car shows will be delighted to learn that, hot on the heels of SABC3’s Driving in Heels, Mzansi Magic has announced a new show – Change Down – and South Africa’s sweetheart, Boity Thulo, is behind the wheel.
The show was launched at Langhams Lifestyle Estate in Fourways this week. It was great – except I nearly missed it.
Thankfully, we arrived just in time to catch actress and TV presenter Tumi Masemola making the guests feel at home.
Change Down, she told us, will be on DStv’s channel 161 at 19:00 from Monday.

The star of the show was a clutch of gleaming Lamborghinis. Jokes. It was Boity, of course. She’s co-hosting Change Down with comedian Skhumba, who didn’t manage to make it to the launch.
Motoring meets lifestyle in this 13-part series that will showcase the flavour of South African motoring, from ekasi to the suburbs, and feature a variety of wheels‚ from basic rides to luxury cars.
The actor and owner of the TV production house Black Brain (and Masemola’s bae), Mandla Ngcongwane, was at the launch and he’s part of the show’s production team. The series is supported by petrol giant BP.
Actor and musician Psyfo put in an appearance, as did presenter Tatum Lewis, who will guest star on Change Down.
But it was all about Boity, who looked fierce in a corporate-but-revealing black number. Delighted about her new gig, she took her time to thank the guests and her colleagues on the show.
Even if you’re not a huge fan of cars, be sure to tune in because viewers will stand a chance to win a BMW gusheshe, an Audi A3 and holidays, as well as a chance to be on the show.
