Cassper Nyovest on HHP: Maybe I should have called him that day

Johannesburg – Speaking about how the death of HHP affected him, Cassper Nyovest opened up in an interview with East Coast Radio’s Drive team, saying that he still finds the news hard to believe.

“I go through so many emotions throughout the day. I’m still numb. It still feels like a dream because it was so sudden – it’s not like he was sick and in hospital,” the rapper said.

Cassper was one of many artists who spoke at HHP’s memorial service in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The muso recalled crying at the service for the first time since the news of HHP’s death.

“The first time I cried was at the memorial when they played one of my favourite songs from him. It was a song that I really loved, and to think I’ll never ever speak to him about this song. Then I broke down.”

HERE IS A MESSAGE HER SHARED FOLLOWING HHP'S DEATH

About how he’s dealing with things now, he says he’s still got many thoughts running through his mind.

“Last night I was just sitting in my bed and I’m like: 'Maybe I should have called him that day’,” he added.

Their relationship may have been a little rocky at times, but Cassper is adamant that HHP was more than just a friend to him, adding that they were able to clear the air between them before the rapper’s untimely death.

“Our relationship was not only music, we were like brothers. Even when we fought, we were fighting about more than just music and the industry. We had real disagreements. Jabba used to swear at me on the phone, and I couldn’t swear back because it’s my brother."

“I’m just glad that before this happened we kind of had a conversation and I told him one more time that: ‘I love you and I appreciate you, and I appreciate everything that you’ve ever done for me and I’ll never forget’.”
