Johannesburg – After news of the death of US rapper XXXTentacion spread, many local fans weighed in on the matter, paying respects to the late muso.

Giving his take on the situation, local rapper Cassper Nyovest tweeted about how the young musician’s death affected him, saying: “He was such an interesting artist. It’s sad.”

In a few follow-up tweets the rapper talked about what he “learned” from XXXTentacion’s death, and also opened up about being “provoked” in the industry.

“There’s a lot to learn from his life and death. For me personally, I need to learn how to avoid people who have less to lose than I do. The envy that rappers have is heavy. Niggas can get you hurt or killed just because they can’t stand your light. It’s pathetic,” he wrote in one tweet.

In a different post he added: “I’ve been provoked so many times & niggas have come at me with that street shit so many times. I’ve walked away every single time and I’ve been mocked and been called pussy for it. I am getting money & feeding my family. The last thing I care about is acting tough.”

When one fan probed the star asking if “Kiernan” (AKA) had “provoked” him this past weekend, he said: “Yes he did & I walked away again. He’s gonna deny it again but I have it on video this time. I don’t know what he’s trying to achieve with this tough guy act but I’m not about it. Innocent people get hurt cause of this dumb shit he’s trying to start. I do not respect that man at all.”
