Cape Town – ICYMI the BET Awards were held on Saturday night in Los Angeles.
A bunch of local music stars were nominated including DJ Black Coffee and rappers Emtee, AKA and Cassper Nyovest for best African act.
The South African acts were up against strong competition from the rest of Africa including big names like Wizkid.
Black Coffee took the award home, much to the delight of his fans all around the world. He was at the event, along with his wife, wearing a green suit.

There were a wave of messages congratulating the DJ on his win from J’ Something to DJ Zinhle.
Among the messages rapper AKA, weighed in, saying “Look, Black Coffee and me don't really dig each other, BUT I RESPECT HIM & HIS ART. I acknowledge him for the pioneer he is.”
