Johannesburg - The intimate life of rapper Nasty C, whose real name is Nsikayesizwe Ngcobo, is off bounds. He would not give away a hint of his life struggles.
He does not comment about hip-hop politics and trends or the music industry’s vibrant shenanigans. He leaves the impression that he is a diplomat in the making, with the ability to tell a person to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.
“I can’t say 2017 was my year. It was a year of personal challenges, but I came out strong,” he says, adding that his brother and manager Ayanda Ngcobo and two close friends helped pull him through. No details, sob!
He does not have a local hip-hop artist who stood out for him this year. He has no views on the best and worst hip-hop track of the year, but says he liked No Flag by London On Da Track featuring Offset, 21 Savage and Nicki Minaj.

Asked who makes him tap his foot, he says it is Minaj.
He would not comment about the drama that unfolded at the recent SA Hip-Hop Awards.
He would not comment about the bullying and exploitation of artists in the industry, such as the legal feud between Fifi Cooper and Ambitiouz Entertainment.
Nasty C has several plans to impress his fans next year, including dropping his fourth album and music videos.
He teamed up with footwear and clothing retailer Sportscene to endorse Redbat clothing under the label Nasty C X Redbat.
“The partnership with Redbat has been a major success and the clothing range is flying off the shelves,” he said, adding that most of the apparel, including hoodies, track pants and caps, was sold out, with only T-shirts available in stores.
The summer range will make its way to stores early next year.
Johannesburg will finally see the Ivyson Tour next year, which was launched in Cape Town and Durban this year.
Nasty C used the tour to pay homage to his late mother, saying: “It means a lot to me as a musician to pay tribute to my mum and to be finally doing a tour alone.”
This year saw the rapper become the face of the Mercedes-Benz compact cars campaign. He also bagged four awards from the 16th annual Metro FM Awards, namely Best New Artist, Best Male Album, Best Hip-Hop Album and Song of the Year.
The Hell Naw star appreciates all his sweet and crazy fans. They can be a rowdy bunch that pushes and shoves to the front line to see him.
“Sometimes they pull me by my shirt. Some of my sweetest fans send me paintings and T-shirts with my name and face on them,” says the man with nice life problems.
He confesses that he loves the attention he gets from women. Some of them openly display affection or simply have a crush on him.
“It makes me happy,” he says.
