COMEDIAN Sifiso Nene is being accused of allegedly abandoning his 17-monthold daughter that he fathered with his ex-girlfriend, but he says this is not true and that the allegations are made up.

A source close to the mother of Sifiso’s child says the comedian ran away from his responsibility. However, when Move! contacted Sifiso about the allegations, he laughed the whole thing off at first as he thought it was a prank call. When he realised that this wasn’t a joke, he said, “The only baby mama drama I know of is from my one-man show, which I’ve been doing for the past three years. I don’t know anything about the baby mama drama you are talking about. If you go ahead with the story, I’ll use it as new material for my upcoming shows.”

The source claims Sifiso broke up with his ex-girlfriend so that his wife wouldn’t find out about the pregnancy. “We recently found out that Sifiso is married. When we connected the dots, we realised he ran away so that his family wouldn’t find out. He abandoned his ex-girlfriend because he was afraid that his wife might find out that he has a child outside, but that’s  not an excuse,” says our source. The source further claims that Sifiso knew that his ex-girlfriend was expecting when he ended the relationship. “He is selfish and a coward. He might be fooling people with the show he is busy with, but clearly it relates to him as he caused all the drama with his baby mama.” When Move! contacted the mother of Sifiso’s child, she refused to talk about the matter. “It’s a personal matter and we are dealing with it. All I can say is that I love my daughter and I’m doing everything I can to raise and protect her,” she says.

Born in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, Sifiso burst unto the comedy scene when he won the competition, So You Think You’re Funny, in 2009. He has since won a South African Traditional  Music Award (Satma) for Best Indigenous Comedian and the Audience Choice Award at  the South African Comics Choice Awards. Although comedy is Sifiso's first love, he has  also tried his hand at acting. He appeared in  David Kau's comedy film, Taxi Ride, in 2012 playing the role of a taxi driver.
