Cosplay artist Riki Lecotey is coming to FanCon in Cape Town

Cape Town - South Africa's first dedicated comic convention FanCon Cape Town Comic Con is bringing comic book creators and international cosplay artists to the Mother City.

The third annual FanCon returns to Cape Town from 28 to 29 April at the CTICC with expanded exhibition floor space, pop culture exhibitors, activities, panel talks, stage events and local and international guests.

International comic book artists, Declan Shalvey, Yanick Paquette, Ken Lashley, Laura Braga, and Ulysse Malassagne will be participating in fan meet and greets, signings as well as drawing sessions. Attendees will also be able to purchase and commission artwork directly from them.

World-renowned cosplay artist, Riki (Riddle) Lecotey is the show's featured cosplay guest, and will be on the judging team for the cosplay competition. There will also be plenty of photo opportunities!

Chris Donio, specialty costumer and prop maker for Marvel movies, including Avengers Infinity War, will be in attendance.

Famed South African cartoonist, Zapiro, will have an exhibition stand and host a cartoon workshop.

Kinpatsu Cosplay, SA's top cosplay artist, returns and will be available for panel workshops and photo opportunities with fans. The full creative team behind South Africa's superhero sensation, Kwezi will be in attendace.

On top of all the special guests making an appearence, ten independently published local comic books will be launched in a special open presentation panel.

FanCon 2018 will showcase multiple convention exclusive items, including three POP vinyl figures, two DC Comics licensed T-shirts, plus a limited edition FanCon 2018 Superman shirt, to honour the 80th anniversary of the world's first superhero.

Action Comics #1, the comic book that introduced Superman to the world, was released on newsstands in April 1938, and it is only fitting that FanCon 2018 celebrates this 80th anniversary milestone with a mini exhibit of original Action Comics issues through the decades.
