Cape Town - The Philander household is abuzz with the news that Proteas bowling all-rounder Vernon Philander and his wife, Mandy, are expecting their first child.
Mandy, who married Vernon (33) in March this year in a fairytale ceremony near Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, announced the pregnancy on social media. The 33-year-old posted a pic on Instagram of herself proudly cradling her burgeoning bump with Vernon beside her. She captioned the pic, “Pre-birthday spoils for the birthday boy and daddy-to-be.”
When YOU contacted Mandy, she confirmed the pregnancy but declined to comment any further.
One thing’s for sure: the couple look ecstatically happy. The last pic Vernon shared on Instagram of the two of them was of his pre-birthday celebrations – a romantic dinner at a restaurant in Franschhoek.
In the caption he thanks his wife for a wonderful evening, adding, “Love you to Franschhoek and back.”
The couple met about 12 years ago and were engaged for two years.
In an interview with YOU, Vernon revealed he fell in love with Mandy from the get-go. “I married my best friend.”
Mandy has a seven-year-old son from a previous relationship.
Congratulations, Vernon and Mandy!
