Damme, Mroza, you did it!

It was the week for packed parties as hundreds of celebs and fans crammed The Sound Room in Kyalami, northern Jozi, for the SABC Summer Song of the Year 2016 prize handover on Tuesday night.

Everyone who is anyone in the music industry came to the event, with a good few hundred guests who were a mixture of fans and celebrities.

The celebs in attendance were dressed to the nines, wearing the kind of glamour just short of what would be expected at the Samas.

Among the more famous faces in attendance – though not nominated for the award – were DJ Sbu, Kelly Khumalo, and Arthur Mafokate, who declined to have City Press photograph him.

(Gosh, I wonder what we did!) He looked busy, working the room and networking up a storm.

The line-up of performers was impressive, with nominee Babes Wodumo bringing down the house with an impressive performance, despite having performed three days earlier at a SuperSport event.

Also on stage were Musa and Robbie Malinga, King Monada, Kwesta and SABC Summer of the Year 2016 winner Mroza.

When asked about the meaning behind his song Sobulala uVan Damme, Mroza said that it was about overcoming hardship.

Mroza, who comes from rural KwaZulu-Natal, took to the stage with ease, telling the crowd that he is still young and that he knows he is destined for even bigger things.

The event’s MCs, TV presenters Lerato Kganyago and Andile Ncube, also killed it.
