Johannesburg – Some of SA favourite artists will gather at the Vivo Nation Music Festival taking place in Johannesburg on 10 and 11 March. Fans can look forward to seeing the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Lady Zamar and of course the talented DJ Doowap.
Speaking to The Juice ahead of the big day, DJ Doowap gave us the lowdown on we can expect from her performance as well as which local and international stars she would most like to collaborate with.

Where do you draw influence from for your music?
I draw my inspiration from the incredible energy in South Africa: the beautiful people, the badass dance moves, the breathtaking landscapes, the fearless youth, the wisdom in the soil and the sky, as well as the relentless creatives.
What about fashion? How would you describe your style?
My style is futuristic, colourful and timeless; it allows for time travel.
One local artist you would really like to work with?
There are numerous artists in SA that I would like to collaborate with:
1. Manthe Ribane: Her aesthetic and vision is beyond these planes.
2. Nonku Phiri: She is a thought provoking musician that pulls at the heart strings and dives deep into your soul to share her light.
3. Moonchild: She is a power house of femme energy that touches on very important social issues to bring about positive change to our communities.
4. Rouge: She spits pure fire on the mic and stands her ground with killer bars and attitude.

What’s one thing you would like to accomplish in 2018?
There are numerous goals I plan on accomplishing in 2018 but high on the priority list is performing and touring in Japan and South Korea.
What are you most looking forward to at the Vivo Nation Festival?
I look forward to finally seeing Babes Wodumo perform live. I can’t wait to get down to her set.
What should fans expect from your set?
I am bringing a banging gqom and kwaito set. I hope the sun is shining and we all come together to have a really good time. My set is all about getting taken on a sonic journey and letting go.
