Cape Town - DJ Sbu has received major backlash after saying he is the continent’s ambassador for hip-hop music during a speech at a memorial site in Los Angeles held in honour of US rapper, Nipsey Hussle.

In a short clip the producer posted onto his Twitter page, he can be seen speaking through a megaphone as he introduces himself and says he represents all musicians from the African continent.

"My name is DJ Sbu. I come all the way from Johannesburg in South Africa. I’m here as an ambassador for Hip-Hop music and the culture in the entire African continent," he said.
