IN CELEBVILLE, friends come and go. However, BFFs DJ Zinhle and Pearl Thusi’s bond seems to be solid. The two are supportive of each other’s careers as well as their personal lives. Despite speculations that their friendship was based on malice because of their common enemies, it seems it is a genuine affair after all. The pair has grown from strength to strength, and they have become an inspiration to their fans.
THEIR FRIENDSHIP CRITICISED
Many have speculated that their friendship was fake and wouldn’t last long. This was after Pearl interfered in the Bonang Matheba, AKA, and DJ Zinhle love triangle. After a follower said their friendship was pretentious, Pearl clapped back and said, “Well, our friendship is doing way better than your brows and growing deeper than your hairline.” Having being close for more than two years, their friendship has proved social media doubts wrong. To them, it is more of a sisterhood.
WHAT KEEPS THEM STRONG
The DJ and actress’s friendship is more than them being in the spotlight. They did charity work together when they visited, with the Albany team, the African children’s feeding scheme in Soweto recently. Among other things, DJ Zinhle went to New York to visit her BFF while Pearl was busy filming season two of Quantico. Pearl is also supportive and tries to attend most of her friend’s gigs. Currently on social media, there is a #Pearl Thusi and DJ Zinhle Challenge that has been serving as a friendship booster, with the two displaying their affection for each other in public. DJ Zinhle posted a picture on Instagram of her BFF with a caption, “So proud of this mama.” Pearl also took to Instagram to post a picture of her with Boity Thulo and DJ Zinhle at a club celebrating Pearl’s birthday. She captioned the picture, “Thank you ladies for loving me. I appreciate and love you more than you know. So proud of how strong you are.”
MOTHERHOOD AND BUILDING A BOND
Pearl, who is also known as Mama Panther, shares a very special bond with her daughter, Thando. She has been seen with her at many Red Carpet events and trips. DJ Zinhle, who is a mother to AKA’s daughter, twoyear-old Kairo, has said on Top Billing that Baby Kairo has taught her to be stronger and happier. She said she has always had a phobia for balloons, but now she has changed because of Kairo. The two BFFs recently took their daughters to Durban.
