The new kid on the block featured on DJ Maphorisa’s Midnight Starring song, Moonchild Sanelly, is ready to take on anyone who copies her bravely unique mop-like hairstyle, she explains the inspiration behind her 5-year-old relationship with the hair and how it has become part of her image.
‘’I have registered this one. I have patented the hair. It is a moon mop legally. I didn’t want to be jacked,’’ she told DJ Fresh on the Breakfast show last week that she is coming for anyone who steps on her toes, more especially on one of those days of the month when it just flows the most. The artist’s eye-catching hairdo was born out of an experiment; she had a mop and wool!
The Xhosa musician says that she has full ownership of the hairdo and anyone who wants to rock the look needs her permission. This is not just one of the hairstyles one can just draw inspiration from and replicate.
