Cape Town - From 3 February, Alex Jay’s familiar voice will be heard on radios all over SA again.

"I'm very excited about this new venture and working with so many great people," he says.

Alex will host the Weekend Breakfast between 6:00 and 11:00 every Saturday and Sunday on Jacaranda FM.

He will also be on air from Mondays to Fridays between 12:00 and 16:00 with Sasha van Gelder at Jacaranda's regional radio station in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

"I love new challenges," said Alex, who has more than 36 years of radio experience. Alex Jay bid farewell to 94.7 last year in June, after 14 years with the station.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE last year, station manager Ravi Naidoo said Alex contributed greatly to broadcasting.

"Alex is the reason many of us got into radio in the first place and his contribution to broadcasting in general, as well as 947 specifically, can’t be quantified,” Ravi said.

At the time, Alex hadn’t made any plans to join any other station but now he will be back on the radio waves.

"I think the biggest challenge will be the ‘high school hits’ that I will have to play on weekends. My children and I usually listen to new music, but I'm looking forward to discovering music from the 90s.

"The move to Jacaranda FM is a new beginning for me," he added. "The move holds great potential for me and I'm going to have the opportunity to connect with a larger audience, an audience with whom I may not have talked in the past. It's fantastic!”
