Cape Town - It’s official, Mshoza and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca are a couple.

The singer and her new bae exclusively shared the news with DRUM, saying they’re very much in love.

“It feels right,” an excited Mshoza (35) – real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi – tells DRUM. “He’s the one. It feel right this time.”

Speaking on what makes her sure about this relationship, she admits he is “exactly like me”.

“I’ve found someone who’s respectful, someone who’s humble and not complicated.”

Respect seems to be a common theme in the relationship as Anele admits that’s what attracted him to Mshoza.

“She’s giving me something I was missing in a relationship, which is love and respect,” the 31-year-old says.

He was previously in a nine-year relationship with his high-school sweetheart and the mother of his child, but things didn’t work out. “There was no respect and we officially broke things off over a month ago,” he says about their split. “I ended the relationship because I have found happiness with Sonto.”

Mshoza says her relationship with Anele allows her the chance to be herself. “I’ve finally found someone I can be comfortable around. A person who accepts me for who I am, the introvert I am.” With Anele, the singer says she is “not forced to go out”.

“As much as I am popular, I’m not fame driven. It’s my job and my life is my life.”

While playing coy on how they met, Mshoza says they’ve been together for a few months and she’s even become a regular at his club games when she has time off from her busy schedule.

Anele adds that having spent time with her, he realises the Mshoza who’s written about in the papers is very different from the woman he’s dating. “I spent a few days with her and I saw the other side of her, which is different from what the papers have written about,” the Bafana Bafana player tells DRUM.

“She has respect and is a people person. She makes me happy. Being around her makes me happy.”

So could a wedding be on the cards for the couple next year?

Anele doesn’t want to get ahead of himself. “All I can say is that I’m happy. At the moment, she is the one.”

The couple have also been introduced to each other’s children. Mshoza is a mom of two, while Anele has a daughter.

“We’re at a very early stage in the relationship but I love his daughter and he loves my kids. That part we’re still learning. We’re trying to get to know each other better as a couple and we do consider our children. We also respect the other parents.”

Mshoza has never been shy to speak about her relationships, whether it be her marriage to her first husband, business tycoon Jacob Mnisi, or her troubled second union to Thuthukani Mvula.

Despite those past heartbreaks, the Kortes singer says she isn’t one to hide what is happening in her life.

“Its life. Nothing is meant to stay hidden,” she says. “I can’t sell a lie and pretend I’m all perfect. My fans need to know me – when I am up and when I am down.”

She adds her honesty helps build a relationship with her fans. “As celebrities in South Africa we’re always complaining [fans] know so much about Beyoncé but they don’t even know our birthdays. That’s because we don’t give them enough information. Because I’m a public person there isn’t much I can do to prevent news about me going out, so I might as well give you the truth instead of the lies being written about me.”
