EXCLUSIVE: Thando Thabethe leaves 5FM: 'I've tendered my resignation'

TV and radio personality Thando Thabethe has revealed that she has officially turned in her resignation at 5FM after five years with the station.

In an exclusive meeting with Channel24 on Tuesday afternoon, Thando broke the news.

"We had to make a very difficult decision, something we've had to ponder over for many, many months. Basically, I've tendered my resignation at 5FM. And the idea is to focus on the things that I want to do," she said.

She hopes that her time on air has done enough for other aspiring presenters. "I've been doing it for almost 11 years now, and I hope I've opened up the path for other young, black women to soar in that field."

The star's resignation was solidified on Tuesday 3 March, and her final show will be on Thursday 5 March.

As for what's next, Thando says she wants to "invest my time in my acting now."

"I start shooting Housekeepers season 2 on Friday, and we're broadening horizons into the world in that sphere," she tells us.

Thando joined 5FM in 2014 and officially took over the drive slot in 2017 with the Thabooty Drive.
