Cape Town - Local media mogul Connie Ferguson recently took to her Instagram page to warn followers against an illicit Facebook page that was seeking interns for their media company named, Ferguson Films.

With South Africa’s unemployment rate currently sitting at an abysmal 27.6%, many unemployed people are falling prey to the trap of fake social media accounts offering employment.

Taking to her Instagram page to share a screenshot of the fake Facebook account which was falsely advertising internships using her production company Ferguson Films – Connie warned users to "not be used by fraudsters."

"SCAM ALERT!!! ?? #FergusonFilms does not have a Facebook account! There’s a fake account advertising internships with the company!" she wrote in the post.

"DO NOT inbox and send your details! For your own safety! BEWARE! If it’s not on our personal Instagram pages it’s FAKE! Be vigilant and do your own due diligence if you have to! Just BE SAFE!"
