The beauty queen had been in the pageant game for a while before bringing home the Miss Universe title in 2017.

Miss SA Teen – 2010
While many may have only taken note of Demi-Leigh when she won the Miss South Africa title in 2017, the beauty queen had actually been part of the pageant world for a while by that time.
In 2010 Demi-Leigh took part in the Miss SA Teen pageant, making it all the way to the top 5.
Miss Varsity Cup – 2015
In 2015, at the age of 20, Demi-Leigh won the title of Miss Varsity Cup.
When the official Varsity Cup Twitter page shared the news about Demi-Leigh's win, there was just one comment on the post, which read: "Wow Demi is gorgeous!!! Congrats girl!! You really need to try out for Miss South Africa!!"
Well, that exactly what the beauty queen went on to do.
Miss South Africa – 2017
Demi-Leigh was crowned the 59th Miss South Africa at the Superbowl in Sun City in 2017. Demi-Leigh wowed the audience and judges on the night of the pageant, and many fans later speculated that she would go on to do extremely well in the Miss Universe competition.

Miss Universe – 2017
Later in 2017, Demi-Leigh went on to represent South Africa on the Miss Universe stage.
The beauty queen brought home the title, making her only the second South African to do so. The first was Margaret Gardiner in 1978.
