Cape Town - Gigi LaMayne is off to Amsterdam to fly the South African flag high as she represents the hip-hop fraternity on a global stage.
Joining the star-studded keynote speaker line-up as a special guest, she’ll be part of the global conversation discussing the progression and global ethos of the genre at the 10-year anniversary of the ADE Beats international music conference on 18 October.
Taking to Instagram, she shared the news with her fans, making reference to this opportunity being the first for Africa before emotionally thanking everyone who has been supportive of her journey. She thanked her supporters in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia too.
"Happy to announce that I will be representing SA at this years international Music Conference in Amsterdam as an honorary guest and performer! All I've ever wanted to do was reach for the stars and land in the clouds ! Thank you for prayers, well wishes and love! #GigiToTheWorld Swipe left for more info! [sic]," she captioned the post.
If accolades are anything to go by, she's established herself as a force to be reckoned with – bagging six South African Hip Hop awards to date. She's earned her place at the helm of the table, boosting independent female hip-hop artists in the country.
ADE Beats is a global networking platform for music talent and professionals that puts a strong emphasis on hip-hop, bass and beats as a global force and industry, and aims to facilitate opportunities and support positive developments for creative talent all over the globe.
Building up to her new album set to drop next year, she says this trip will be much-needed inspiration to put the finishing touches to her work.
"I am very excited but also truly honoured and humbled to be representing South Africa on a global scale. I believe this trip will help inspire me and contribute to the completion of my album. I am ready to take Gigi to the world and hope they are ready for me," she told DRUM.
