SHE may have been eliminated in the top 16 on Idols SA, but it is not over with aspirant singer and actress Gugu Zulu.
The actress was among the six hopefuls who did not make it in the top 10 of Idols SA on Sunday. But the dark beauty says it’s not over yet. “I really hurt deep because I was looking forward to be in the top 10,” she says.
Gugu who plays Nandi in the e.tv’s The Alliance says the experience was exhilarating but scary. “Being in the top 16 was the best thing ever. I was really over the moon and then last night happened.”
Asked where she thinks she did wrong in her last performance, Gugu can’t fault herself. “I don’t feel I did anything wrong, I don’t know,” she says laughingly. But the good news is that she is not giving up on her dream of being in front of the mic.
Gugu is part of the R&B and Soul band called The Nameless Band. The group which comprises, MaBlerh (32), and Sky, real name Scelo Yeni, (31) released a single, Masiyeke which has been receiving massive airplay nationwide.
“I am not going to sit back. I will be focusing on music and acting equally.” She also told us that she is starring in an upcoming musical movie about Zulu Queen Mkabayi (Shaka’s aunt) called She is King.
