Here are the local creatives who made it onto the Forbes Africa Under 30 list

Johannesburg – The 2018 Forbes Africa Under 30 list is here, and quite a few of our local creatives have landed on it.  

From musicians, to artists, and actors, these local stars have been regarded by the magazine as people “making waves” in the industry. And yes, as the name suggests, everyone is under the age of 30. 

Divided into three sectors – business, technology and creative – Forbes describes the list as their: “Authentic and most definitive list of Africa’s most promising young change-makers.” 

Of the 30 people to make the cut in the creatives division, 14 are from South Africa.  

Take a look at who made the list here: 

1. Thuso Mbedu (Actress)

This local star is making waves in the acting industry, landing a nomination in the 2017 Emmy Awards for best performance by an actress for her role as Winnie in Mzansi Magic's drama series Is'thunzi.

2. Cassper Nyovest (Musician)

With his plan to fill up Moses Mabhida stadium underway, and a 2018 BET nomination under his belt, Cassper Nyovest is proving that this year will be another great one for him.

3. Orapeleng Modutle (Fashion Designer)

Having dressed the likes of Minnie Dlamini and Boity, fashion designer Orapeleng is definitely someone to watch.

4. Nomzamo Mbatha (Actress, Presenter)

Is there anything Nomzamo can't do? The TV personality has multiple brand endorsements, has gained a large following through her work as an actress and presenter, and also takes her time to give back to the community. What more could we ask for?

5. Kwesta (Musician)

In April Kwesta announced that his album DaKAR ll went 7 times platinum. The star had hits with tracks like Spirit and N'Gud in the past couple of months.

6. Shekhinah (Musician)

The singer's debut album Rose Gold was a hit with fans, reaching Gold status in a matter of months. The album included hits like Suited, Please Mr, and Different.

7. Koleka Putuma (Poet, Author)

At 25-years-old, Koleka has already authored a bestselling book titled Collective Amnesia.

8. Nasty C (Musician)

At the young age of 21, local rapper Nasty C already has a string of awards behind his name, including awards from the Samas and Metros.

9. Simphiwe Ndzube (Visual Artiste) 

This visual artists work has earned him many accolades including a Tillman Award for Visual Arts in 2015.

10. Rina Chunga-Kutama (Fashio Designer)

Founder of the brand Rich Factory, designer Rina Chunga-Kutama has worked with many well-known South African stars, including Terry Pheto and Nomzamo Mbatha.

11. Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokon (Actress)

Well-known for her role on e.tv's Scandal!, Mapaseka is also a businesswomen, having opened her ownhealth food restaurant

12. Tony Gum (Visual Artiste)

Dubbed as a "must-watch" creative artist on the Forbes Under 30 list, Tony Gum has donned the cover of Destiny Magazine and has also made it onto the Vogue website in previous years. 

13. Anatii (Musician)

The rapper recently joined Bonang and David Tlale as brand ambassador for cognac brand Courvoisier.

14. Sasha Pieterse (Actress)

This SA star is most well-known for her role on ABC drama Pretty Little Liars.
