Hugh Masekela's performance at Joy of Jazz cancelled

Cape Town – South African musician Hugh Masekela’s performance at the Joy of Jazz festival has been cancelled, following an emergency medical procedure on his left eye.

The festival will take place on Saturday, 30 September.

The medical procedure took place on Friday, 15 September and Hugh’s recuperation prevents him from taking part in any performances or travel until the end of October.

Fans will remember that the jazz legend was also unable to perform at the DStv iRock festival because of the medical emergency.

The Joy of Jazz festival has released a full statement with all the information about the cancellation of Hugh’s performance via The City of Joburg's Twitter account.
