Trevor Noah is back in the ‘motherland’ as the Americans refer to South Africa or Africa, although he lives in the states now, he still calls South Africa home.  It was like Trevor never left when he got onto Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg to host M-net’s National Wild, a comedy series that showcases fresh talent in the comedy industry.

There was no telling that the 34-year-old comedian and American Daily Show host doesn’t live in South Africa anymore. His authentic accent is still intact and most of all, the satire and genius sense of humor he is loved for had people in stitches. Comedians from across the country came out to support comics that were performing on the night. The likes of Trevor Gumbi, Donovan Goliath, Mpho Popps and many others were in attendance.

Trevor says it is good to be back home especially to do a show that seeks to empower up and coming comedians. “Well they might be up and coming but I think these guys are amazing,” Trevor says.  Not forgetting where he has been and how he started, he says he was also given an opportunity so it is important for him to do the same for others. In January 2018, comedian Loyiso Madinga was given an opportunity to be part of the Daily Show by reporting local segments for Africa, outside of the US.  The comedy series will air on M-net soon.
