Jesse Clegg honours his father during a Zulu ritual for his spiritual crossing

Cape Town - Jesse Clegg and his family celebrated Johnny Clegg's life, in KwaZulu-Natal at the homestead of his father's musical partner Sipho Mchunu.

The South African music legend died in July 2019 at the age of 66, following a cancer diagnosis in 2015.

"My dad was deeply connected to this place, & to be able to commemorate & honor him here, surrounded by love & family, was very special, [sic]" Jesse wrote on Twitter.

Sharing photos from the celebration on social media, he explained that they performed an "important Zulu ritual for his spiritual crossing."

"I'd like to say thank you to Sipho Mchunu, Roddy Quin, The Mchunu Family and the community of Makhabeleni for their guidance, support and respect, [sic]" he added.

Following Johnny's tragic death, Jesse paid tribute to his father on Instagram, writing: "I will miss you deeply and I struggle to imagine a world without you. But I am comforted to know that your wisdom and compassion lives on in all of us."
