Musician Jo Black, who is known for his deep voice, tattoos and long beard, reached for the razor and trimmed his trademark facial hair.

Jo is currently in quarantine with his family in Pretoria under the nationwide lockdown. The father of two, closed the doors to his restaurant The Bearded Butcher a week before lockdown was implemented and has been unable to perform due to the coronavirus restrictions.

But Jo remains positive, despite his loss of income, saying that during the 21-day lockdown period he has learnt that his career, his beard and his possessions don't define him.

Being a musician doesn't define me, having a beard doesn't define me. It's heart that defines us. Good times builds confidence, hard times builds character. Here's to second chances," he wrote on Instagram.

Sharing a photo of his clean-shaven face on social media, Jo says that he was anticipating both and positive and negative feedback about his appearance.

"Change is the only constant at the moment; everyday is a new day for a new start," he writes.

"I have decided to start over. A second chance to do things better, with better intent and more heart than before. We are not defined by the opinions of others," he added.

This isn't the first time that Jo cut his beard, in 2017 he was challenged to say goodbye to his signature long beard on Jacaranda FM - a challenge he readily accepted!

Many of his fans and followers have commented on his resemblance to George Clooney. Do you agree?
