Johannesburg – Paying tribute to his long-time friend Winston Ntshona on Twitter, John Kani expressed the pain he felt when he found out about Ntshona's passing on Thursday.

“It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing of my dearest brother Winston Ntshona this morning in Port Elizabeth. To his wife and family I share your pain. He was my brother,” Kani wrote.

The star also shared a letter he received from the cast and crew of Murder Mystery, which includes Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.

“Dear Dr Kani, please receive our deepest condolences for the enormous loss of your friend. We are deeply saddened by the news. We give you all our support in this painful and sad moment,” the note reads.

Kani and Ntshona starred alongside each other in Athol Fugard’s The Island and Sizwe Banzi is Dead. Both stars were co-Tony Award winners for Best Actor for their work.
