K Naomi receives backlash after insensitive bipolar tweet | Drum

Cape Town - TV personality K Naomi found herself on the wrong side of Twitter users after posting an insensitive tweet aimed at people living with bipolar disorder.

K Naomi – real name Keitumetse Naomi Noinyane – posted the tweet on her page on Wednesday morning.

"I hate bipolar people… You can’t always switch up, choose your vibes and be about them," the now-deleted tweet read.

As expected, this triggered a lot of her followers, who quickly pointed out how "insensitive" and misinformed her tweet was.

I think K Naomi is smart enough to understand how social media works. When you write something it will be interpreted as written, unless you explain what you mean and put it into context. It was very clumsy of her to “speak” so recklessly about such a sensitive topic.

A Twitter user pointed out that K Naomi has previously revealed that she suffers with depression but is now insensitive to others with a similar mental illness.

The 28-year-old has since apologised for her words and claimed that her intention was not to offend anyone.

"Apologies to everyone about my previous post. My intention wasn’t to offend anyone…I should have used different wording. I was just trying to say that I’m tired of people who always switch up. It’s either we vibe or we don’t... Apologies," she tried to explain.
