Cape Town - The inseparable couple, Khabonina Qubeka and her partner of three years, Vuyisile 'Master Vusi' Colossa, share a piece of their family life.
The athletic lovebirds are parents to a beautiful baby girl and the fire is still burning in their relationship. In an exclusive interview with Move!, the couple gives details of how they met and what parenthood means to them.
BUSINESS MEETS PLEASURE
Khabonina was introduced to the professional mixed martial arts athlete by his brother over four years ago. The two were initially supposed to embark on a business partnership but it turned into romance two years later. Master Vusi was working as a fitness trainer in Hong Kong.
The athlete says he was attracted to Khabonina's beauty but the 38-year-old Isidingo actress couldn’t say much at the time. "The first thing I did was look at his profile picture on WhatsApp and I thought to myself 'he’s a player'," says Khabonina. When they eventually met, Khabonina was immediately smitten. She says what attracted her to Master Vusi was how smart he is.
ON THEIR HAPPY FAMILY
The couple welcomed their baby girl late last year. The bundle of joy's arrival was a beautiful surprise. The Isidingo actress didn’t publicise the pregnancy. "I didn’t make a public announcement but I never kept it a secret. Those who knew, knew. The most important thing was to respect the journey," she says. Khabonina and her partner, who are based in Joburg, say raising their little one is pure joy.
The first-time mom admits to being a late bloomer but says it couldn’t have happened at a better time. "The timing is just perfect. I’m financially stable and I have the most amazing partner. It all fits perfectly well. My baby was that missing element and now that she’s here, it’s just all so beautiful," she says.
KEEPING THE FIRE BURNING
Khabonina and Master Vusi serve fitness couple goals. The actress, who is a yoga warrior, shares that they use physical activity to spend more time together. Master Vusi adds, "Doing things together strengthens our relationship and grows us even closer." The couple is launching a wellness and martial arts self-defence online programme soon.
