Khanya Mkangisa on her mother: 'She raised me alone on a nurse’s salary'

Cape Town - Local TV personality Khanya Mkangisa thanked her mom for all her sacrifices in an emotional Twitter thread.

Paying tribute her mother for all the support she has given Khanya throughout her career, she writes: "She used to pick me up from school and drive me to auditions."

"When I booked Yotv's Big Yo, on Saturday mornings she'd drive me to studio at 6am in the morning. She never once complained. She didn't have to do any of this. [sic]"

The actress, who started her career at the age of 14, says her mother has always remained her number one fan.

"Hearing her tell me she's proud of me truly warms my heart. I am so thankful for her."

The 30-year-old was born in the Eastern Cape, and says her mother decided to move to Johannesburg for "a better life."

According to the heartfelt post Khanyi's mother raised her as a single parent, on a single income.

"Did I mention how she raised me alone, on a nurse's salary," she adds.
