Kyle Deutsch talks MAMA nomination, success after Idols & his bucket list

Johannesburg – He may not have won SA Idols back in 2014, but singer Kyle Deutsch did not let that stop him from getting his name out there.

Life after Idols

Two years after entering the reality show, Kyle has a gold selling single, a MAMA’s nomination, and an album on the way. Chatting to The Juice about his success after the show, he says it’s all because of his team.

“We’ve got a talented group of people that we’re working with and I think that’s been a real help getting the music out. Of course after shows like this you have to have quality music for people to stand up and listen to and we were able to deliver on that.”

This collab though?? haha #thenewschool

Award-winning music

His single, Back To The Beach, which he features on alongside Shekhinah, has become extremely popular with fans, receiving numerous award nominations and helping to boost both artists’ careers.

Kyle says the success of the single stems from it’s relatability. “I think people fell in love with the whole concept and the notion, and us as artists. Our friendship inspired them to reminisce on their childhoods. There’s just a connection with the song and friendship, and personalities, and memories, and all of that sort of that stuff that people are unconsciously tapping into. And I think that’s why it’s just an infectious feel good song.”

The song has also been nominated for an MTV African Music Award in the Best Pop/Alternative category. “Hopefully we take it this time,” Kyle says about the major nomination.

Whoop whoop???? #mamanominies #bestpop

Bucket list

He may have achieved a lot in the past two years but the singer says owning a Mustang, travelling, and becoming a dad are three things he would like to do before he dies.

“I really would like to own an old-school Mustang. I would like to travel a hell of a lot. I’d really like to go see Barcelona and Spain. I think, to have a baby boy, that would be on my bucket list. I would love to be a father to a son.”
