Cape Town - Despite being involved in a car accident in Potchefstroom on Wednesday, Laurika Rauch will go ahead with her scheduled performance at Aardklop National Art Festival.
Speaking to Channel24 the festival director at Aardklop, Alexa Strachan, confirmed the unfortunate incident, saying that the accident took place around 19:00 when Laurika was being escorted to the Beeld-auditorium for a soundcheck.
She was in a festival vehicle, accompanied by two staff members, when a Mercedes struck the vehicle in front of them.
Laurika and the two staff members were immediately transported to the nearest hospital where they were examined.
Fortunately, no one sustained any serious injuries.
"Laurika sustained several bruises and is a little bit sore. But did not require any stitches. She is in good spirits, and as a true professional does not want to disappoint her fans. She was a little rattled, but the show will go ahead as scheduled," said Alexa.
Huisgenoot reported that she is resting, as she has been unable to hold her microphone properly.
According to Huisgenoot, tickets to Laurika's one-night show is already sold out.
