Cape Town - TV personality Liezel van der Westhuizen said "yes" when her boyfriend, Mike Fannin, proposed while on vacation in northern Mozambique.
Mike popped the question while the couple were visiting the Matemo Island. Part of the pristine Quirimbas Islands it is located northeast of Ibo island, in northern Mozambique.
Speaking to The Juice about the magical proposal, Liezel says: "We were walking along the beach while watching the beautiful sunset over the Indian ocean, when Mike got down on one knee."
"I thought he had fallen over and got such a fright. Then realised what was happening. I was in absolute shock but said yes immediately, after he had delivered his beautifully worded proposal."
Liezel, who describes her fiancé as adventurous, determined and positive, says that she loves that her husband-to-be lets her be herself.
"I love how Mike is always up for any sporting challenge or adventure that I suggest we tackle. On one of our first dates, we did a half Ironman Triathlon together," she says.
Mike consulted Liezel's sister on the design of the ring. "It's a round brilliant cut custom designed engagement ring," she explains.
The TV and radio personality says that she hasn't given her wedding day much thought yet, but knows it has to accommodate her big family.
